This year marks a significant milestone for Windward Life Care as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. Founded in 2004, Windward Life Care set out with a mission to provide premier home-based care services to San Diego’s older and disabled adults.
Over two decades, our dedication to this mission has not only endured but has flourished, as evidenced by San Diego County’s recognition of our efforts. The County honored our achievement by presenting us with a proclamation honoring us, and declared March 27, 2024, as “Windward Life Care Day” throughout San Diego County.
A commitment to quality and independence
As an independent, privately owned company, Windward Life Care prides itself on offering personalized, holistic home care and home health care services. “This independence means that we can focus on providing consistent and high-quality care tailored to each client’s unique needs,” says Norman Hannay, MPS, CMC, the president of Windward. “We think that sets us apart from larger agencies or chains. Our clients enjoy continuity with their caregivers. We’ve had numerous caregiver/client relationships that last many years. You don’t often get that with other providers.”
We’re with you on your aging journey
Our services are designed to meet our clients where they are—both geographically and in their journey of aging. Whether it’s providing expert in-home care or more specialized home health services, our team ensures that all needs are met with professionalism and empathy, wherever our clients call home. We call it Care Where You Are. This approach allows the care team to respond quickly to changes in the client’s condition. We can easily adapt as we accompany each client on their aging journey.
Our care team takes into account each client’s unique identity, including religious/spiritual beliefs, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and family structure. We have been granted silver-level certification with SAGECare, which provides LGBT competency training and consulting on LGBT aging issues.
A heartfelt thank you to our team and clients
We could not have reached this milestone without the dedication of our team members and the trust of our clients. “Each person who has been a part of our journey has contributed significantly to our growth and expertise,” says Hannay. Our commitment to workplace excellence is reflected by the fact that we have been named one of San Diego’s Top Places to Work for four years in a row. We are deeply grateful for every team member’s effort and every client’s trust over these past 20 years.
Engaging with our community
Our engagement with the San Diego community has always been a cornerstone of our operations. We believe in supporting and participating in community activities that enhance the lives of older and disabled adults. Our ongoing community involvement can be seen in our various initiatives and partnerships, which can be explored in more detail here.
Looking forward
While the landscape of home-based care has evolved dramatically over the last two decades, our commitment to our clients, employees, and community remains unwavering. We continue to adapt and innovate, ensuring that our services not only meet current standards but set new benchmarks in care.
As we celebrate this 20th anniversary, we look forward to continuing our mission and expanding our services to meet the community’s changing needs. Thank you for being part of our story, and here’s to many more years of making a difference together!
